Not Yet, But Soon: The Dallas Wings Are Building Something Real
The Dallas Wings do not have everything figured out, just yet. And that’s exactly what makes them the most exciting young team in the WNBA this season.
Their thrilling overtime win against the Storm felt like another glimpse into what this group will become once everything starts consistently flowing. A team built around youth is destined to have growing pains as they adapt. There’s no recipe for instant success with new teammates, new roles, and one of the youngest cores in the league. But recently, you can see the pieces starting to come together.
What stands out about Dallas this year isn’t just talent depth, but also their potential. With each game, we’re watching the team come together in real time. Just in her second year, Paige Bueckers continues to look more comfortable leading at the professional level, while players around her are settling into their roles and building chemistry. Then we have the first pick of the 2026 draft, Azzi Fudd, whose breakout performance against the Storm felt like a reminder of just how much talent this roster actually has.
The overtime victory wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t need to be. Young teams aren’t supposed to be polished from day one. They’re supposed to be learning how to win, and that’s exactly what the Wings are doing.
It’s easy to focus on the current standings or statistics, but the bigger picture is what makes Dallas so intriguing and exciting to watch.
They have one of the most talented young cores in the league, recognizable stars, charisma, and a fully invested fan base following their journey. That’s a combination that will be very dangerous once the experience catches up to the talent.
The rest of the WNBA should be paying attention.
Although the Dallas Wings may still be finding their flow, nights like their overtime win over Seattle are proof that the foundation is already present. When this group finally puts it all together, they could become one of the most exciting and successful teams in women’s basketball.
